Navigon adds new ala carte downlaods Continuing the no new hardware trend we ID'd yesterday, Navigon will announce this morning a wide range of new downloadable content, some good, some not so good. On the plus side we have red light cameras and European maps. Of more questionable value is 3D landmarks, and sure to rile the folks who bought the Navigon 7200T is the option to beef up its weak POI database by paying $29.99 for an additional 2.8 million POIs. Here's the full news release: Continuing in its tradition of being the category innovator, NAVIGON, today announced a greatly expanded pool of new content for its GPS navigators that will be available for download this spring. These content downloads include Red Light Camera Data, Rand McNally Scenic Routes and City Guides, a European Map, 3D Landmarks, a North American Expansion Pack and Extended POI’s. Users can purchase the content on NAVIGON’s Web shop. They then can manage and update their content using NAVIGON’s free online software platform, NAVIGON Fresh. Mio Moov S series Mio will be announcing several new models at CES a little later today. As we predicted last week, these units will incorporate the Spirit interface with what they are now calling "slide screen" technology.
