TomTom XL 330 review

The TomTom XL 330 updates the TomTom ONE XL with a new design that includes a built-in mount, dubbed the EasyPortTM, that stows on the back of the device. Other than the form factor and re-designed speaker though, this new entry level model is almost identical to its older sibling.

The TomTom XL 330 sports a nice 4.3" wide touch screen, but it doesn't have text-to-speech, so you'll hear "turn right" instead of "turn right, Oak Street." For that, you'll have to upgrade to TomTom XL 330-S. Otherwise, these two models have the same feature set, so rather than repeat everything here, I'm going to refer you to my hands on review of the TomTom XL 330-S for all the details.

The TomTom ONE 130 and 130-S offer the same features as the XL 330 series, albeit with a smaller 3.5" screen.

All of the above units come with pre-loaded maps of the U.S. and Canada.

Magellan suspends development of 5340 connected GPS According to TWICE, Magellan has suspended development of the connected Maestro Elite 5340+GPRS: The device had been slated for March shipment. “Although Magellan believes there is great promise in connected navigation, in the near term, consumers have shown an unwillingness to pay a steep price for PNDs, especially with the recent economic downturns,” the company said. “We have suspended our development on this device and will re-examine the market potential when the climate changes.” Connected devices are falling like flies. With Dash's announcement a little while ago that it is leaving the PND hardware market, this leaves Best Buy with the only two-way connected device on the market! I've got one of those and will have a full review soon, but so far I'm unimpressed. C'mon Garmin -- I want my nuvifone!
