Amazon says they will have it tomorrow -- maybe they will, maybe they won't. They often lag on getting new Garmin units into their system by a couple of weeks.

I posted some first impressions of the PN-40 recently. It's looking like the best handheld GPS with aerial photo capability, not to mention a huge additional range of functionality. Stay tuned for a full hands-on review.

Are you ready for Black Friday? Black Friday is just a week from tomorrow and there are sure to be a lot of great deals to be found on GPS receivers. What to expect Here's how it's all shaping up...I'm expecting to see entry-level Garmin nuvis going for $119 or less, with less popular brands (Nextar, etc.) going for $69 or $79. And who knows, someone may offer a blowout on the latter for $49. I'm also expecting to see TomTom and Magellan priced a little lower than Garmins, with entry-level models going for $99 for sure, perhaps less. When to get the best deals In past years, the best deals of the holiday season have come on the Thanksgiving weekend -- from Thanksgiving Day to Black Friday and on through the weekend to Cyber Monday. That's been the trend, but what with the gloomy economic picture this year, we still might see better deals later on. But history suggests that Thanksgiving weekend is the best time to shop. Current deal summary - November 21 Over at GPS Deals, I've posted two sales events. REI has some exceptionally good prices on several units, including the Garmin nuvi 255, nuvi 500, Forerunner 305, and a couple of TomTom's. Meanwhile, TigerGPS has some deals that will run thru November 24, or while quantities last. These include a red nuvi 205W and the Colorado 400t.
