Garmin nuvi 265T, 265WT and 275T

Garmin is announcing three new nüvi 2x5 models today, the nüvi 265T, 265WT and 275T. All the new models include text-to-speech, lifetime traffic and Bluetooth for hands-free calling.

The nuvi 265WT (pictured above) bumps the screen size to 4.3", while the nuvi 275T includes maps of Europe as well as North America.

All three models are slated to be available in the third quarter, so we should see them soon. Links and suggested retail prices:

I've also posted pages on the nuvi 765T and nuvi 785T. Garmin is announcing the nuvi 7x5 series today, adding "lane assist," a feature already found on some TomTom and Navigon devices. Some areas will also include a 3-D transparent view of buildings. The nüvi 755T, 765T and 775T models will include lifetime traffic from NAVTEQ. The 785T will have an MSN Direct receiver with a trial subscription; I'm a little surprised at that, since there is already a lifetime MSN subscription available (or at least there has been in the past). If all this sounds a lot like the new Navigon 7200T that was just announced, you're not the only one thinking that. As I've said before, Garmin doesn't innovate that much, yet when they do add a feature, they usually nail it. Witness the nuvi 800 series voice recognition system for example. Garmin nuMaps Guarantee Garmin is also announcing its nüMaps Guarantee today, which will ensure that new owners of select Garmin personal navigation devices (PNDs) receive the most updated map available. There has been a great deal of confusion over Garmin's policy on units purchased without the latest maps pre-loaded. Today's announcement is welcome news, if for no other reason than it formalizes their policy and we know what the rules are. After a customer purchases a new nüvi or zūmo PND, they can check to see if they are eligible for a free map update simply by registering their unit at http://my.garmin.com within 60 days of the first use of their new PND. If new map data is available anytime during that 60-day period, the user can request and download the new data, free of charge, by following simple online prompts. The nüMaps Guarantee program will begin on October 15, 2008. Anyone who first used their new nüvi or zūmo PND on August 17th or later will be eligible for a free map update – provided their unit is registered with Garmin and a new map is available within 60 days of the unit’s first use.
