Nuvis rule!

The best selling GPS list at Amazon is notoriously fickle, primarily because it's updated hourly. That's one reason I started listing my own top ten GPS, based on which reviews have been the most popular in the past month.

So imagine my surprise when, every time I looked over the past week, the nuvi 660 and 350 have been in the top two spots! And the 360 has often been in the top ten as well. Now that is market dominance. When the first nuvi appeared, I anticipated significant price resistance. Wrong! I'd say the nuvi is going to be THE hot GPS this holiday season.

50 GPS message boards Call them message boards, discussion groups, online forums, or some other combination of those terms -- Connecting with other folks on the web, who are using your particular brand of GPS can be one of the quickest ways to get an answer on anything from basic noobie queries to perplexing technical questions. Especially helpful are groups that focus on particular brands and models of GPS. A few caveats before the list of message boards…I've tried to screen out those groups dominated by spam. Also, some of these groups overlap, and they vary greatly in posting volume. Speaking of which, I have one tip for the many Yahoo groups below -- you may want to choose to view messages on the web only, rather than by email, lest your inbox quickly become clogged. Finally, be sure to drill up and down through these websites. There were just too many forums to list them all, and there are other great message boards out there. GeoBuddy geocaching software TopoGrafix, the company behind EasyGPS and ExpertGPS has announced the release of GeoBuddy 2.0. GeoBuddy was built with geocachers in mind. It can import pocket queries and GSAK files, and a free 90 day demo is available. The purchase price is $99.95. From the GeoBuddy web site: "Unlike other geocaching utilities, GeoBuddy is a complete geocaching solution. GeoBuddy displays all of the geocaches in your area, as well as your own personal GPS data, over USGS topo maps, aerial photos, and your own scanned paper trail and road maps.
