Software
- Earlier this year I posted about DesktopEarth, which puts a stunning image of the earth on your desktop, showing day/night and seasonal changes. Now the Map Room links to an even nicer application that adds real-time cloud cover. There is a catch though -- the free version of EarthDesk displays an evaluation watermark.
- I haven't quite figured out the point yet of Magellan's MapSend Lite beta. If you can help shed some light on this, please post a comment below.

Map Stuff

- When I plan outdoor adventure vacations, I often want to check out seasonal weather averages and extremes. One tool I use is Weather Underground's seasonal averages feature. But here's a nice map-based tool - Precipitation and temperature maps of the U.S. (Hint - click on one of the dots.) Via Cartography.
