GPS Maps of Mexico

50k_scale_mexican_map GPS Information.net has some excellent new pages up on various GPS maps of Mexico. They include a great page on DRG's that can be used with OziExplorer. A 1:50,000 scale topo map image from that page is shown at left. They also show examples of Baja Expeditioner maps, which are compatible with Garmin GPS units. Finally, the articles also compare BiciMapas Mexico Atlas maps with Garmin City Select Mexico NT maps (available from Amazon and GPSNow.com).

www.meximaps.com has custom baja topo maps for the garmin gps.

Garmin StreetPilot 2820 announced Garmin today announced a new addition to their lineup - the StreetPilot 2820. This GAPS navigation device, expected to be available in June of 2006, appears to be an update to the StreetPilot 2730. The major new improvement is the addition of Bluetooth, allowing for hands-free cellphone use. Billed as a unit for car or motorcycle use, these capabilities allow motorcyclists with a Bluetooth-enabled headset or helmet to receive wireless navigation audio prompts to their destination. The other notable change is that this unit allows a choice in traffic information options -- both TMC and XMNavTraffic are available. Just like the 2730, the 2820 includes an MP3 / audiobook player and XM radio capability. The estimated retail price is $1099. UPDATE: Check out our Garmin StreetPilot 2820 review.
