GPS Information.net has added a GPS forum to their website. Initial categories are "Which GPS should I buy?", "FAQs about GPS", "Garmin", "Magellan", "Lowrance" and "Other brands." For those of you not aware of the site, GPS Information.net is a great and deep site about all things GPS. Whenever they have a review posted, I always link to it in my own compendium of GPS reviews and resources, Congratulations to Joe Mehaffey, Jack Yeazel and Dale DePriest for this new addition to their site.
I have only used 2 GPS systems. One in a rental car, where we called a phone number and gave them the address, and they programmed it into a system. And my MS Streets & Trips 2005.
I'm thinking about upgrading for a cheap $20-$30 for the 2006 vrs of MS Streets & Trips...but after calling MS today, I found out that I'll probably have to spend that much every year or so, if I want to keep somewhat up to date on new roads, etc. So then I started thinking maybe I should consider buying a different system. I don't want to spend much, and would be using this mainly for when I travel in cities, out of my own. Maybe 4-5 times/year, if that much. I used the Streets and Trips only once (for a 4 day trip) and thought it worked pretty well. It certainly wasn't as easy and effortless as just having that voice from the dashboard telling us what to do -like in the rental car; ...on the other hand, it was nice to have the map to look at in the laptop as exrta info.
I think I'm leaning towards not having to spend much more money. Can anyone make this really simple for me? I've been having to make LOTS of decisions lately...and I'm really burnt out on that.
Thanks
Katrina
