There's a very thorough writeup today about Garmin as a business from U.S. News and World Report. There's nothing shocking or new really, but it is a very thorough, four page report.
It's always interesting to me to see projections of market growth. Regarding the auto market, for the next two years, the article says...
"Only 2.5 million navigation units for cars were sold in the United States last year, but by 2008 outside experts expect that number to reach 9 million."
That's nearly doubling each year! The article also addresses the aviation market, commoditization, increased competition from cell phones and other manufacturers like Sony, and why PND's are better than factory-installed GPS recievers .
